Software Engineer

The Software Engineer develops, improves and manages the software for ophthalmic equipment in accordance with internationally established standards for Medical Devices.

Tasks and Responsibilities

• Develop software for complex medical systems, including Graphic Interfaces and embedded software.
• Draft software development plans.
• Estimate the software related activities in time and costs.
• Develop/design software architecture.
• Translate software requirements into functional software solutions.
• Collaborate with and manage subcontractors of software.
• Apply Risk management and design safety concepts in the software.
• Develop functional software solutions in code in various programming languages.
• Apply and monitor Coding Standards.
• Execute code reviews.
• Write software verification protocols.
• Execute and documentation software verification.
• Take care of the release and distribution of the software.
• Manage the Build Server, the Issue Tracker and the Version Control System.
• Receiving and registering bug reports in the Issue Tracker system.
• Assess software change proposals.
• Transfer software to the production organization.
• Keep track of developments in the field.

Skills, Education and Expertise:

• Bachelor degree level, achieved through either relevant experience or through educational degree in IT area.
• Knowledge of and experience with software regulations and standards in Medical Devices.
• Experience with (embedded) software development in various programming languages mainly C#) with Windows Presentation Foundation and High-Level programming environments such as Matlab / Simulink.
• Knowledge of applying unit tests during the development process.
• Good oral and written communication in English.
