You are a certificated Occupational Therapist with a Master’s degree. You have proven expertise in the evaluation, assessment, and diagnosis of associated disorders. You have at least three years of experience in an educational setting. 

In addition you;

The Role: The Occupational Therapist will develop and contribute to learning support plans related to the specific needs of students from Preschool to Grade 12 in conjunction with the Student Support Team. You will design and provide therapeutic strategies and treatment plans for the purpose of strengthening skills and ultimately increasing school success. Your role is supervised by the Student Support Director. 

The Work: You will fulfill the role of a school based Occupational Therapy practitioner, supporting academic achievement and social participation in collaboration with the Student Support Team. This includes evaluating and determining student needs, as well as demonstrating and modeling specific instructional strategies that classroom teachers might employ. Additionally, you will develop, maintain and update Individual Learning Plans. You will coordinate meetings and processes for students (e.g. scheduling testing/screening/services, parent conferences etc) for the purpose of presenting evaluation results, developing treatment plans and /or providing training to parents/students/staff. You will participate actively in school-wide, divisional and Student Support Team meetings.

Strong, open communications are your hallmark. Regular communications with parents is essential as you provide and explain information regarding students’ social, academic, and behavioral progress. You will be actively involved in school-wide, divisional, and grade level meetings and will have the opportunity to engage fully and openly in our professional learning community. You will be fully involved in daily life at ASH. Your “can do” attitude will be essential for your success in your daily school life.
