IT Technician in the Clinical Trials Centre (Ref.: 536710)
The Clinical Trials Centre (HKU-CTC) is a leading clinical trials management platform established under the University of Hong Kong LKS Faculty of Medicine (HKUMed) and is dedicated to managing and facilitating international-standard clinical trials on new drugs, medical devices and medical technologies. We are seeking a high calibre IT professional to join our Information Technology Unit as an IT Support Engineer.
Main Responsibilities:
Provide first-level technical support to staff via phone, email, or in-person;
Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network issues;
Assist with the setup, configuration, and maintenance of computer systems and peripherals;
Install and update software applications and operating systems;
Maintain an inventory of IT equipment and ensure that it is in good working condition;
Document support requests and resolutions in the helpdesk system;
Assist in the implementation of IT projects and initiatives;
Provide basic training and guidance to staff on the use of IT systems and software;
Escalate complex issues to senior IT staff when necessary; and
Maintain a high level of customer service and professionalism in all interactions. Requirements:
Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field;
At least 5 years' experiences in IT support;
In-depth knowledge of computer hardware, software, and networking concepts;
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and common operating systems (Windows, Mac OS, Linux);
Ability to determine IT needs and train end-users;
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail;
Good communications and interpersonal skills;
Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
Previous experience in an IT support role is a plus; and
Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and processes. The appointment will be made on a two-year fixed-term full-time contract, to commence as soon as possible with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, together with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme at 10% of basic salary.
