Overall mission

Within the global research organization of our Field Seeds Division and more precisely in the Trait and Technologies organization, you are going to lead our research efforts in plant production in controlled environments. The scope covers various crops and project types, including doubled haploids and trait introgression. Your role is to define midterm targets in agreement with breeding needs and develop the resources accordingly. Besides, you are in charge of the coordination of greenhouse production in Rilland.

Key elements of the role

As greenhouse production specialist your main responsibilities will be to:

·         formulate mid to long term strategic plans to develop the activity of plant production in controlled environments in accordance with breeding needs and opportunities all over the world

·         identify and consolidate a network of external scientific collaborators and technology providers

·         sponsor and drive innovative projects

·         coordinate and prioritize the allocation of resources between teams and projects in Rilland

·         develop - as a member of the Trait and technology Team - close relationships with other teams, crop research heads and key external partners in order to steer innovation

·         ensure all deliverables are FTO for the breeders and strengthen IP protection

Your profile

·         PhD in plant physiology or horticulture with at least 5 years of experience

·         Robust experience in plant production in controlled environments, good knowledge in breeding

·         Your leadership is confirmed through success experience in project and team management

·         Curious and driven by innovation you have been in a position to propose and implement a strategic road map in similar domain and steer changes

·         You are recognized for your excellent interpersonal skills and are eager to animate and develop networks; agile, you have experience with matrix organizations

·         Rigorous and methodological you are results oriented

·         You master English both oral and written; Dutch and French speaking would be a plus
