Job description

Intro and job overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic Lab Technician to join our team. In this role, you will support laboratory operations and assist in conducting routine quantitative and qualitative tests under the guidance of your supervisor. The main function of this lab technician is to perform routine medical laboratory tests for the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease.
Your responsibilities will include making measurements, performing calculations, evaluating experimental results, and maintaining accurate documentation.

Responsibilities and Duties

Conduct routine laboratory operations, following technical direction provided by your supervisor;

Perform quantitative and qualitative tests, making accurate measurements and calculations;

Set up, adjust, maintain and clean medical laboratory equipment;

Analyze the results of tests and experiments to ensure conformity to specifications, using special mechanical and electrical devices;

Obtain specimens, cultivating, isolating and identifying microorganisms for analysis;

May examine cells stained with dye to locate abnormalities.

Consult with a pathologist to determine a final diagnosis when abnormal cells are found.

Perform routine checks and preventive maintenance on instruments to ensure safety and efficiency.

Requirements and Qualifications

Secondary diploma or equivalent (MLO / HBO).

0-2 years of experience as a laboratory technician or in a closely related field.

An associate degree or coursework in a related field (e.g., lab technician programs, science, technology, engineering, or mathematics) is preferred and may substitute for some experience.

Strong attention to detail and accuracy in performing tests and documenting results.

Ability to work under moderate supervision and follow instructions effectively.

Proficiency in written and verbal communication.

Basic problem-solving skills and the ability to make routine recommendations.

Familiarity with standard laboratory equipment and basic troubleshooting.
