Legal Safety Coordinator (Construction Phase)
Location: Antwerp, Belgium
Duration: Initially contracted until end of 2026, then 1 year contract extension

This role offers the opportunity to join a major industrial construction project in Belgium, forming part of a large, long-term infrastructure development. The project is being delivered through an integrated management structure, with multiple contractors active on-site during execution.

The Legal Safety Coordinator will plan, coordinate, and maintain the health and safety framework during the construction phase of the project. Reporting functionally into the HSSE leadership, the role works closely with Construction Managers to ensure compliance with Belgian legislation and the highest safety standards on-site.
Key Responsibilities
Fulfil all duties of Safety Coordinator for the execution phase in accordance with: Belgian Welfare Law (4 August 1996)
Royal Decree of 25 January 2001 (Temporary or Mobile Construction Sites)
Apply the hierarchy of prevention throughout construction activities
Update and manage the Safety & Health Plan in line with project progress
Maintain the coordination file and post-intervention dossier
Organise and chair contractor coordination meetings related to safety
Conduct regular site walk-arounds and inspections
Support Project, Construction, and HSSE Managers in resolving HSSE issues Required Qualifications
Safety Coordinator Level A (Belgian legal certification – mandatory)
Safety Advisor Level 1 (advantageous)
Degree-qualified in engineering or a related technical discipline
Strong knowledge of Belgian HSSE legislation
Fluent in Dutch and proficient in English
Minimum 5 years’ experience as a legal safety coordinator on construction sites Highly Advantageous
10+ years’ HSSE experience on large construction or industrial projects
Experience working with multiple contractors simultaneously
Strong planning and organisational capability
