DATA ENGINEER
Contract / Interim | On-site or hybrid (Leiden, Netherlands) | Duration to be confirmed
Our client is the investment arm of one of the world's largest retail groups, managing a diverse portfolio spanning renewable energy, forestry, real estate and financial assets. As part of a strategic data initiative, they are building the data foundations that power financial and asset management reporting across the organisation. You will join this programme to design and build the pipelines and data products that turn fragmented enterprise data into reliable, decision-ready reporting.
You will work across a broad set of source systems and partner with finance, asset management and analytics teams to deliver data that is accurate, traceable and genuinely usable.

Responsibilities
Design, develop and maintain scalable data pipelines and integrations
Build reusable data products from a range of enterprise source systems (including SAP, Microsoft Dynamics and others)
Create robust data models to support financial and asset management reporting
Manage historical and incremental data loading strategies
Ensure data quality, reliability, traceability and accessibility
Enable Power BI reporting through optimised datasets and semantic models
Partner with finance, asset management and data & analytics teams across the business
Support UAT, documentation and knowledge transfer
Job requirements
5+ years of data engineering experience
Strong SQL and Python development skills
Proven experience building enterprise ETL/ELT pipelines
Hands-on experience with the Microsoft Azure data platform
Strong understanding of data quality, governance and metadata management
Experience delivering data products on modern analytics platforms
The following are a plus:
Experience with SAP or Microsoft Dynamics accounting solutions
Experience supporting Power BI reporting solutions
Experience working in Agile delivery teams
Candidates must hold valid EU work authorisation.
