A Day in the Life
The Medtronic site located in Kerkrade, the Netherlands, is positioned close to the EMEA Distribution Centre as well as the Bakken Research Centre. The site is currently being transformed into a high-performance, data-driven, and connected manufacturing environment, supporting cleanroom operations and critical medical device production.
We are looking for a Senior Maintenance & Facilities Technician who will combine technical expertise with strong planning, coordination, and administrative ownership. This senior-level role focuses on end-to-end maintenance work management — from preparation, planning, and scheduling to execution oversight and compliant documentation — while leading by example on the shop floor.
This role fills a capability gap in work preparation, planning & scheduling, and compliant documentation, while maintaining hands-on credibility in a regulated manufacturing environment. The Senior Maintenance & Facilities Technician will plan, coordinate, and control maintenance work end-to-end, ensuring alignment with production priorities, safety standards, and regulatory compliance. The role actively coordinates with Engineering, EHS, Operational Excellence, Production, and external service providers, providing structure, foresight, and practical execution to maintenance operations.
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:
Plan, prepare, and schedule preventive and corrective maintenance activities for manufacturing, cleanroom, and facility equipmentOwn work preparation, including job scoping, task sequencing, spare parts identification, and safety checksInitiate and manage purchase orders, service requests, and quotations via ERP and procurement systemsCoordinate and supervise external vendors and service providers, ensuring compliance, safety, and quality of workEnsure accurate and compliant documentation in CMMS and other quality systems (PMs, calibrations, service reports)Administer equipment lifecycle records from installation through maintenance and decommissioningCollaborate closely with cross-functional teams (Engineering, EHS, Operational Excellence, Production) to align priorities and executionActively participate in hands-on execution where needed, leading by example and supporting audits/inspectionsRequired Knowledge and Experience:
Senior-level experience in maintenance within a regulated manufacturing environment (medical devices, pharma, food, or high-tech)Proven experience in maintenance planning, scheduling, and work preparation, not just hands-on executionStrong understanding of equipment maintenance, calibration, and facility systemsHands-on experience with ERP, CMMS, and digital documentation systemsStructured, result-oriented, and proactive, with the ability to work independently, prioritize competing demands, and influence stakeholdersAffinity with automation, digitization, and IT systems, using data to improve operational performanceDynamic communicator, comfortable interacting with all levels of the organization, from shopfloor operators to senior leadershipContinuous improvement mindset, with knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, DMAIC (Yellow/Green Belt preferred) and willingness to challenge non-compliant or unsafe work practicesPhysical Job Requirements
