Job description

The chemical industry needs to transition to a sustainable future using renewable energy as well as biological and circular feedstock to reach these future goals. Within the Brightsite team in Geleen we are developing new innovations with respect to electrification, plasma, and recycling technologies. We are currently looking to expand the team with a process system engineer that can develop system-level models to design and optimize the current and future assets to meet the climate goals.


As a scientist, you will be accountable to execute R&D projects within the Brightsite team and provide model solutions for system-level modeling. You will collaborate with various teams in TNO in Delft, Amsterdam and Utrecht and the local Brightsite partners. You will integrate capabilities for system-level simulation and optimization of the Chemelot industrial site and other industrial sectors. These are needed to make the right tactical, and strategic decisions by modeling and optimizing the systems at appropriate scales (unit operations/processes, plant level, techno-economic analysis at supply chain and capital investment decisions at sector/economy level).
