Legal Counsel (Dutch Law) | Contracts, Regulatory & Privacy Advisory
Overview
Step into a pivotal Legal Counsel role supporting our client’s business operations in the Netherlands. You’ll provide day-to-day legal guidance on complex matters across commercial and non-commercial contracting, public procurement, competition law, product liability, medical device regulatory issues, and data privacy. This is a hands‑on position where you’ll partner closely with business stakeholders to deliver strategic, practical solutions while identifying and mitigating legal risk in a large, fast-moving environment.
With a standalone feel and the expectation you can onboard quickly and work independently, this role is ideal for a seasoned Dutch-qualified lawyer who enjoys translating legal complexity into clear business outcomes.
Required Skills
- Professional qualifications as a lawyer under Dutch law
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience
- Excellent command of Dutch and English (written and verbal)
- Strong commercial acumen with proven analytical, negotiation, and problem‑solving skills
- Ability to quickly onboard and operate independently with limited supervision
- Ability to adapt global contract templates into locally compliant agreements aligned with Dutch law and business needs
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to identify, anticipate, and help mitigate key legal risks
- Ability to collaborate with internal subject matter experts / Centers of Expertise and Operating Unit lawyers
- Experience managing relationships with outside counsel to maximize quality of representation and minimize legal expenses
- Unquestioned integrity and ethics
- Ability to travel within the Netherlands
- Life science experience, or equivalent experience in a highly regulated environment
- Experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a range of agreements and legal documents (Dutch and English)
- MedTech knowledge and relevant experience within the Dutch healthcare system and market
Nice to Have Skills
- Experience providing legal guidance and delivering training sessions to business stakeholders on policies, procedures, and legislation
- Experience overseeing and supporting implementation of new legal processes and local projects
Preferred Education and Experience
- Preferred: Dutch-law lawyer qualification
- Experience level: 10+ years in relevant legal roles, ideally within life sciences/medtech or equivalent regulated industries
Other Requirements
- Location: Eindhoven, Netherlands (remote flexibility)
- Contract length: 5 months
- Working pattern: 0.6 FTE / 24 hours per week
- Start date: ASAP
- Travel: within the Netherlands
