Job description

Do you want to design the future of sustainable data centres?
Do you have the expertise to lead complex, international engineering projects?
Then you may be the Design Manager we are looking for.

Data centres play a vital role in society, and the decisions made today will shape the digital and sustainable infrastructure of tomorrow. At COWI, we are intensifying our focus on data centres and strengthening our capabilities to support clients in delivering the next generation of digital infrastructure.

We are therefore looking for a Design Manager to join us on this journey, becoming an integral part of our growing organisation and helping evolve our data centre environment through your expertise in complex projects.

As Design Manager – Data Centres, you will bring your expertise in engineering and project delivery into multidisciplinary teams, helping translate customer needs into robust and future-ready solutions.

You will be part of a professional environment experiencing rapid growth and strong strategic focus within COWI, with the opportunity to deepen your technical leadership, work on some of the largest data centre projects in the region, and actively influence how COWI delivers international data centre projects.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Lead the technical direction and delivery of complex data centre projects, ensuring high quality and consistency across disciplines.
  • Engage strategically with customers to understand business drivers and translate them into scalable, resilient and efficient technical solutions.
  • Act as technical lead and trusted advisor on major data centre programmes.
  • Drive coordination across multidisciplinary teams, ensuring seamless integration of engineering, architecture and sustainability aspects.
  • Support project development from early concept and feasibility through design, tender and construction phases.
  • Contribute to business development, including client engagement, proposal development and market positioning.
  • Your skills. Our team. Together we design the future.

You are driven by a fast-paced and high-energy environment and thrive when working on complex, large-scale projects where collaboration, technical excellence and clear communication are key to success.

On top of that, you will have:

  • A relevant educational background in engineering (e.g. electrical, mechanical, civil or similar).
  • Extensive experience working with engineering consultancy, technical advisory or complex infrastructure projects.
  • Proven experience from data centre projects or other large-scale mission critical facilities.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading technical teams and delivering complex engineering projects.
  • Strong commercial understanding and ability to engage with senior stakeholders.
  • Professional proficiency in English.
  • Work location

The role can be based in any of our offices across Scandinavia.

    This includes offices in:

  • Norway – Bergen, Trondheim, Stavanger, Oslo, Fredrikstad, Haugesund, Bodø, Tromsø, Hamar, Drammen
  • Sweden – Stockholm, Gothenburg and Malmö
  • Denmark – Copenhagen, Kongens Lyngby, Vejle, Aarhus, Odense and Aalborg
  • We work in international and multidisciplinary teams, and many of our projects are delivered across offices and borders.
