Your responsibilities will include:

Career preparation

  • Organise career-focused training activities for AUC students, under the current ‘Graduate Futures’ initiative, including workshops and resources on choosing masters, personal development and career preparation.
  • Design a new three-year-long career preparation trajectory, eventually replacing the current ‘Graduate Futures’ programme, that integrates seamlessly with the academic advising provided by tutors, offering students a structured series of training opportunities and events towards their graduation.
  • Manage our content on master’s preparation and career development, ensuring it’s effective dissemination through various channels. Collaborate with the communications team to develop a yearly strategy to promote the available career preparation activities and opportunities to students.
  • Support the AUC Scholarship Fund (ASF). You will offer help in the selection process of scholarship applicants, and oversee a leadership programme for a small number of selected students.
  • Alumni relations

  • Serve as primary point of contact for alumni and our independent AUC Alumni Association (AUCAA – currently with approximately members). Help them organise relevant events.
  • Manage alumni communications, update the AUC alumni database, send out a quarterly alumni newsletter and ensure the effective use of alumni relations platforms, such as LinkedIn.
  • Maintain strong ties with the VU and UvA’s alumni relations departments and their fundraising teams to facilitate collaboration.
  • Conduct a graduate survey, once every three years, in partnerships with the AUC Educational Quality Officer, gathering insights to further the development of AUC.
  • Community Projects and Internships

  • Work closely with the Community Projects and Internships (CPI) team to enhance internship and community project opportunities for AUC students, particularly within the local region. Your expertise in student and career development will help shape policies that increase the impact of community service learning at AUC.
  • The CARO reports to the Department Head of Services & Communications. This job offers an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact on the professional and personal development of our students, while also strengthening the ties within our alumni community.

    What do we require?

  • A university degree;
  • Keen interest in career development, training and coaching;
  • Fluency in both Dutch (the working language at UvA and VU) and English (the working language at AUC);
  • A talent for networking and organising engaging events;
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, the ability to engage an audience;
  • Ability to build effective relationships with colleagues, stakeholders and alumni;
  • Strong project and time management skills, with the ability to work as a self-starter;
  • Willingness to be flexible with work hours, approximately twice per month alumni activities or trainings may occur outside of regular office hours.
  • Our offer

    We offer a temporary employment contract for 30,4 hours per week for a period of 12 months. The preferred starting date is as soon as possible. A permanent contract follows if we positively assess your performance.

This does not include 8% holiday allowance and 8,3% year-end allowance. The UFO profile Beleidsmedewerker 5 is applicable. The Collective Labour Agreement of Dutch Universities is applicable.
