As Senior Financial Risk Manager you would become part of a fintech with a great success story. Our client is an online bank and niche player in the investment field and they are growing both in the Netherlands as well as in Europe.
Thanks to the short lines, financial risk management directly contributes to the active management of financial risks across the organisation. As a 2nd line of defence you will monitor, assess, report and advise on all sorts of financial risks. You will also continuously check the quality of existing financial risk control framework and work on its further improvement.

Risk & Capital Management is an independent 2nd line of defence function and the head of the department reports directly to the CFRO. A solid risk control framework has been established in recent years and it is their ambition to further professionalise and improve this in the coming years.
The Function

Our client offers a wide range of investment products to its customers that inherently carry various financial risks. In this role you will make an important contribution to improving their organization by assessing the financial risks in critical processes, systems and product innovations. You will be expected to help the business move forward in a prudent and robust way.

You will be responsible for maintaining the financial risk management framework and ensure that the financial risks (including credit risk related to client margin trading and lending products, market risk, liquidity, interest rate and investment risk) stay within the defined risk appetite.

You will evaluate new products and business initiatives from a financial risk management perspective.

You will also be responsible for validating the internal risk and investment models and validating the financial risk related reporting processes (i.e. COREP, FINREP, ICAAP, ILAAP).

You will perform in-depth risk and scenario analyses to determine where the risks lie in specific financial processes. Where necessary, you will propose improvement measurements and monitor the implementation of these improvements.

You will also contribute to the reports prepared for the Board and Risk Committees.

You are also expected to keep your knowledge up-to-date of new laws and regulations in your field.

In this position you will closely work together with colleagues from Risk & Capital Management and you will be a sparring partner of the business. You will lead the ALCO and pay an active role in the Investment Committee.

Requirements

A suitable candidate for the position of Senior Financial Risk Manager is expected to currently work in a similar position or in a financial risk management consultancy role. We are also looking for:

A completed university degree in finance/economics, or related field and preferably a FRM and/or CFA certification

Seven to ten years of work experience in the field of Financial Risk Management, in banking and investment management

Good knowledge of relevant laws and regulations

Sound knowledge of banking and investment products

Experience with ALM, model validation, stress testing, ICAAP, ILAAP, recovery plans

Experience with preparation and monitoring of risk appetite parameters related to financial risks

To be successful in this role you are:

Analytically strong and able to identify and analyse risks

Proactive and possess strong communication skills

Have a good command of English (Dutch would be preferable)

Have experience with data analytics, Excel (VBA), Python, SAS en GRC tooling
